Today, REC Networks is rolling out a completely rebuilt version of our popular FCC.today dashboard website.
FCC.today is a “near real time” look into the activities at the Federal Communications Media Bureau. As a part of our much more comprehensive Enhanced License Management System (eLMS), FCC.today shows information on the latest broadcast applications to be filed or receive some kind of FCC action. FCC.today also includes information on FCC daily business, recent pleadings filed against broadcast applications, Federal Register items and information on irregular operations at the agency.
The new version of FCC.today was based on a desire to modernize the look of the site. The new version makes better use of wider screens. It also adds more functionality to those viewing with mobile browsers.
This new version is the first time that we will see an advertising banner on FCC.today. REC has some very strict standards for advertising within our sites. Most importantly, REC does not use outside “ad networks” such as Google Ad Sense that can present irrelevant content and potentially links to malware. In order to advertise on REC, a vendor must be related to our industry and have an affiliate marketing system set up in order to track sales and deliver commissions. Vendors wishing to advertise can contact REC.
One notable feature that is not in this new rollout version of FCC.today is the tracking of Emergency Alert System messages. When EAS returns to FCC.today, it will be limited to RWT, RMT, NPT and CAE messages.
This new version of FCC.today is the second major website project that was written using “vibe coding”. Vibe coding is where instead of writing actual code, the creator simply provides instructions and the system builds the source code. REC’s first vibe coded website is the Derby Love Network.
Just a reminder, eLMS updates, which impact the updating on FCC.today, take place every 20 minutes weekdays between 5:10AM and 5:50PM Arizona Time (AZT) and every 60 minutes from 6:10PM to 9:10PM (AZT). On weekends, every 60 minutes between 5:10AM and 9:10PM AZT. There is no processing of applications after 9:10PM AZT until service resumes the next morning.
