FCC opens comment period for CBS "news distortion" complaint
(Updated 2-7-25) MB Docket 25-73 opened to address "transparency and demonstrated interest" in the Center for American Rights complaint against CBS.
In a very interesting move, the Federal Communications Commission announced that it will be accepting public comments on the issues that have been raised by the Center for American Rights (CAR) complaint against CBS Broadcasting, Inc. and specifically CBS-owned station WCBS-TV New York, NY where the organization alleges that CBS committed “news distortion” in an episode of 60 Minutes which featured an interview with Presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
The Commission further states that “[g]iven the value of transparency and demonstrated interest in this ongoing FCC matter, the FCC has determined that the public interest would be served by making the transcript and video available and opening a docket to seek comment on the issues that has been raised.
A copy of CAR’s complaint against CBS can be found in MB Docket 24-275 (see pages 3 and 4), which was filed in the proceeding involving the merger of Paramount Global and Skydance Media.
Upon request of the agency, CBS has submitted the raw video of the interview, which can be found below:
A copy of CBS’s submitted transcript can be found here.
Comments in MB Docket 25-73 are due March 7, 2025 with Reply Comments due on March 24, 2025.
Updated February 7, 2025:
The FCC has released an additional video regarding this proceeding.
I think we've lost the commercial network news broadcasters and journalists to their corporate bosses. It's a shame. I refuse to watch them and now watch the PBS News Hour exclusively. Solid, fact based journalism is still a thing there.
Trump has nothing to do with it, libtard. This is a violation of FCC rules and qualifies as election interference, just like 51 "Intel Experts" lying their asses off about Hunter's laptop. This is We The People taking our country back from the corrupt scum in the District of Criminals.
