FCC announces filing due date extensions after shutdown. REC third notification.
Filing deadline of Tuesday, November 18, 2025 is set for filings due during the shutdown and next Monday.
November 13, 2025, 10:15AM EST
The Federal Communications Commission has released a Public Notice announcing processes as a result of recovering from the recent shutdown.
First, the notice states that the “FCC staff will work in good faith with parties to resolve and address issues that arise with an influx of new filings and requests. We anticipate that complications may arise in some cases. FCC staff will bring a flexible, commonsense approach to resolving the range of issues that may arise upon re-opening in these circumstances.”
The FCC will extend the deadline of all filings that would have been due between October 1 to November 17, 2025 (yes, even going into the future) on November 18, 2025. This is somewhat consistent with the shutdown recovery policy from 2019.
For Special Temporary Authority (STA) authorizations that would have expired between October 1 and November 17, 2025, they are extended until November 18, 2025.
Finally, the Notice requests that “until such further guidance is issued, we ask parties to limit filings and submissions except where immediate authority is needed and to refrain from submitting filings seeking additional relief from filing deadlines for the time being.”
As of 10:25 AM EST, the FCC has not restored LMS, ULS or reactivated the 2025 Test Series in ETRS. Likewise, REC has not yet restored eLMS and FCC.today. REC is periodically monitoring for system status.
At this time, REC Networks is otherwise, in normal operations. We are giving priority to ETRS and any authorizations set to expire between October 1 and November 17, 2025. If you need assistance, please contact via email lpfm@recnet.com. Please make sure you leave a valid phone number and the call sign or facility ID of the station.
REC expects to release a fourth notification after the FCC systems have been restored and when eLMS and other REC update servers are resumed.
